Easy to fit and looks great
Easy to fit and looks great. I have bought this for my downstairs double glazed windows as I live on a busy street, and it lets in light whilst adding privacy. It may be easier to fit by removing the window panel if you can (clips out on PVC windows).

This has the wow factor
This stuff is amazing, front door enabled anyone to see straight through the house, so this was the answer. Did everything it said it would was very easy to use and no mess! Absolutely fantastic Review by Lyn S. from Amazon UK / (Posted on 12/05/2014)
Great Product!
The recent bizarre weather made my room temperature very high. I was looking to buy something to counteract this and my friend recommended this window film to me. In the descriptions it said it blocks out sunlight and that it protects privacy and so I purchased this product.

I was worried at first, having never used such product before, but the film came with instructions to which I needed to follow. Firstly I measured the width and length of the window I was planning to apply this film. Then I cut the film according to the measurements.

I then sprayed a sufficient amount of soap water to the window, got rid of the backing film of the window film and stuck it to the window carefully. The process was very simple and I am absolutely thrilled about this film! As my room is on the ground floor, it was very easy to see my room from outside, but now it protects my room from any unwanted onlookers! I will definitely recommend this to my friends! The frosting on the window
I bought this product to cover the small windows on my garage door (12 in total) so that people couldn't see into the garage. I'm going to try and upload a picture I took of the work in progress as well so hopefully by the time you read this there will be my garage door available to view at the top as an additional image.

The first thing to mention is that the film obscures from a distance but also from right up close as well. Provided you have cut to the right size then even having your eye right up against the window does not afforded a view inside so in that respect for my (garage security) purposes it does exactly as required. The trade off is, of course, a reduction in the amount of light in the garage. The direct light was gone and replaced by a diffuse light - still enough to see by without turning the lights on - but a significant reduction nonetheless, I would estimate by about a third. Of course, I fitted this film to all my glazing which accounts for the reduction and if you were just doing a half and half or other partial fit then the loss of light would change accordingly.

In terms of fitting there are some comprehensive instructions included with the film and it is important to follow them. Cleaning the fitting side of the window is a must but I would add that you should ideally clean both sides of the window (so you don't assume that a mark is on the outside only to discover after fitting the film that it isn't) AND the window frame around the glazing panel as this can hold dust, spiders cobwebs etc which the film could pick up when fitting.

In my case, fitting a smallish square piece into individual windows I found it beneficial to put a small diagonal nick into each corner prior to fitting as this allows the film to sit better into the frame and on the glass.

I should also mention that if you are fitting into a window with a painted frame that you make sure that any paint that has got onto the window by mistake is removed as far as possible, otherwise the paint on the glass will potentially hold the film away from the glass and cause air bubbles to form. You don't have to remove all the paint, just the bobbles and bits standing proud that will, in turn, prevent the film from making contact with the glass.

I used a grout/adhesive spreader from B&Q to smooth out the film. The instructions recommend a squeegee but in my case that would have been too big for the windows (approx 28cm x 24cm) and the smaller sized grout tool was perfect for me. I could also use the grout tool as a straight edge for the fine tune cutting of the film on the window. Can I suggest before you start making final fine tune cuts that you make sure the squeegee/spreader hasn't pulled the film down/in from the opposite side - there is nothing more frustrating then cutting off 'excess' only to discover that the squeegee has moved the film slightly and there is now a gap where your cut off 'excess' should be!

In terms of improvements I would like to see - there are just two and these are both something for the manufacturer. The supplier shipped promptly and in a robust cardboard poster tube. Anyway, my desired improvements would be:

1. Add grid lines to the whole of the backing film to make cutting easier. There are already perimeter guide markings that are very useful but if, like me, you are cutting smaller pieces then the perimeter markings don't help in the middle of the film which is where grid lines across the whole of the backing film would be great.

2. Change the colour of the backing film. It is currently transparent so consequently harder to see - a tint or colour would make removal a little easier. Of course, if grid lines are added to the film then this may do the same job.

The key is time and patience. It would be quite easy to get frustrated and, because of that, I actually did my windows in 2 batches of 6 to avoid getting twitchy and starting to rush the job. Either that, or cut out the caffeine! Review by Mr. J. Powell "Anotherworld" from Amazon UK / (Posted on 09/04/2014)
Great privacy provision
I have a single window in my kitchen that faces out onto the back garden. Nobody can see in as my fences are just over 6ft high plus there's a few trees I strategically positioned that have grown well over the last 19 years. You know your getting old when a sapling you planted is now 30ft high :(

But. . .I am well aware of some nosey sods who live in the high rise flats around 200 yards away who use binoculars and can see right into my kitchen and as somebody with a top secret cheesecake recipe I need to stop em! Plus we spend a lot of time in the kitchen in our house and don't want to be watched!

So, when I was contacted by Decowall and asked to try out and review this window film, I was more than happy to give it a go.

They sent me a well packaged roll which measured 1m x 50cm which was sufficient for my window.

The roll has pre-marked 1cm measurements along the side and bottom to help you cut it to the correct size. I found this to be very helpful indeed. The roll is the frosted film which has a clear backing sheet that needs to be peeled off to use.

With the roll you get very comprehensive instructions on how to cut and apply the film to your window/glass.

I won't repeat the instructions parrot fashion but in fitting this stuff to my window I used. . .

- Tape measure
- Sharp Scissors
- A sharp stanley blade/craft knife
- A thin/rigid piece of plastic (like a bank card) wrapped in a cotton handkerchief to smooth the film across the glass
- Slip solution. Which is a solution of washing up liquid/water (see instructions enclosed)

You do need to make sure the window/glass is absolutely spotlessly clean before fitting.

I just measured my window and cut the film with the scissors (before peeling the backing off of course) and cut it about 3mm wider and longer than I needed so once fitted I could cut it spot on using a craft knife, like you would when wallpapering.

I peeled the film away from the backing and sprayed the slip solution on the adhesive side of the film 'and' on the window. Then applied the film to the window starting at the top and smoothing the bubbles out downwards using the thin rigid plastic as I went.

It was spot on after smoothing a few bubbles out.

You then, using the plastic in my case (or you can use a squeegee) run it downwards and across the now fitted film in order to remove as much slip solution as possible. I repeated this several times.

It was now perfectly fitted!

If you find a particle/bit under there, you can easily peel the film off and remove it then re-apply.

Now I have total privacy from the peeping toms over the way and there's still loads of now less harsh sunlight flooding through that window which does give a nice ambiance now it's up. Very nice.

Recommended. Review by KM from Amazon UK / (Posted on 09/04/2014)
I would highly recommend!
Definitely five stars. The material is high quality and it's really easy to apply. Final result is slick and looks professional with no air bubbles left in any of my windows. Would buy again and would recommend to anyone who wants some privacy or those who just want to block some light. Review by itsjoony / (Posted on 03/02/2014)
