We have stuck them on ancient wallpaper with a small raised flower pattern on it and untold layers of emulsion paint. They are still stuck after a month so we are confident that they are going to stay. I have even seen that someone has taken a butterfly off and stuck it back upside down and it is not peeling. What the image doesn't show is that each butterfly has details in it in a slightly deeper shade, which make them look more expensive I feel. They were some of the more expensive stickers but the quality and amount makes them good value.
